Why our Training Courses VS our Free YouTube Videos?

Why should you consider taking our courses instead of just watching our YouTube Videos?  There's actually many benefits to taking our courses.

  1. Easy Structured Ebook and Video learning - When you watch a youtube video teaching something like how to tape and finish drywall, do you always get it in one shot, or do you sometimes have to come back and watch again, especially if you do the same task 6 months apart? I watch a lot of videos to learn video editing but there are many tasks I only do once every 3-4 months, like 'Multi-Camera Editing' and honestly, each and every time I go to do it, I have to go find a video on how to do it again, and almost every time I find a different creator who does it different and it's confusing. OR I try to find that one video I watched before and I might find 4 different ones from the same creator, or I can't find that one at all.

I will simplify this by providing you with an EBook with all the training materials in it in typed form, BUT with links to the relevant videos you need to watch. And, the Training Ebook will have clickable chapters that you can simply click on to go immediately to that section. That way you can come back at any time and find the EXACT SAME teaching materials you found the 1st time, eliminating that confusion.

  2. Oversimplification - When trying to learn basic to advanced drywall skills on YouTube, most of the videos you'll find, including many of mine, are abbreviated. What this means is we keep our videos under 20 minutes long, and often much less than that as viewers often click away from longer videos. But MANY times, we need more time to fully explain the techniques, materials, and reasoning behind what we do. Without this, you may feel got enough to do the job, but if your job is slightly different, understanding the process in full will help you know how to adapt to each job as well as to help you avoid the many mistakes that often happen when you have incomplete training.

  3. Lacking additional needed training - Let's say you are going to repair a hole in your ceiling. You need to understand the difference between hot mud and regular mud (joint compound), and the difference between the many types of regular mud. There are many types of Hot Mud, and many types of joint compounds, but we often don't have time to explain all this in each video. The one you need may be totally different from the one in our video, and without a full understanding of the various types of drywall mud, their uses, advantages, and disadvantages, etc, you may use the wrong one. You also may be confused about things like joint tape, how to handle repairs on painted walls vs unpainted, etc. And we don't teach this each time because many of our viewers would complain about us always repeating ourselves. With our courses, you'll be taught each subject once, and will seldom hear it repeated.

  4. Avoiding the pleasantries - What I mean by this is most all YouTube Creators start their videos off with things like, 'Hey, welcome to my channel here at That Kilted Guy Videos' and 'Be sure to subscribe to my channel and hit that ....'. Or we end it with similar statements so about 10-20% of our videos are us repeating things you may have already heard on another video. Another example is I often show how to hold your knives, which ones do what, how much pressure, which mud to use, etc. With this course, you'll only hear it once. And if you need to hear it again, you can click on a chapter title and be taken right to that section. I plan to have an index of terms you can also click on to view important instances of that term.

  5. Confusing Information - Learning on Youtube is kind of like taking an art class in college, with a different teacher each day. The 1st day your teacher has you paint in watercolor, but the next day your teacher thinks watercolor is a poor way to paint and tells you oil painting is the best. On the 3rd day your teacher tells you that oil painting is fine, but doesn't like the brushes your 1st teacher told you to buy. So what I mean is you will search for a particular subject like let us say 'How to remove popcorn ceilings' and you'll find hundreds of videos. If you watch videos from 4 of us, we all likely do it slightly differently, and some will tell you that their way is the only way, leading to confusion. Or one Creator will show you how they do it but tell you nothing about Asbestos, or what to do afterward. You end up getting bits and pieces of a puzzle, but all from different puzzle boxes. And honestly, there's often more than one way to do many things so learning everything from one creator makes more sense.

  6. Not getting everything from one YouTube Creator - Ok, lets face it, no Youtube creator has covered every single subject about drywall on Youtube. So you may find a Channel called 'Joes' Super Amazing Handyman Skills' and he teaches drywall finishing. But after watching you find out he has only gotten out videos on Drywall taping recessed joints with mesh tape, Coating the joints with drywall knives, and repairing a crack. But you also want to know how to Tape Butt Joints, inside angles, how to fix nail holes, etc. So you go find another video, but this guy swears that mesh tape will fail, or that the ONLY way to do it right is with a Hawk and Trowel. You can get very confused learning this way.

I will try to talk about ALL the different ways of doing things and explain why I feel the method I'm teaching you is best for you. But I'll also tell you when you might want to try another way and depending on the course level, I may even teach you more than one way. And, I'll cover subjects and training I haven't covered in my YouTube videos, yet. Which brings me to the next point-

  7. Complete training - My course will be designed to teach you all about drywall, in depth, from A-Z. But, you can easily skip past the sections you may already understand by simply clicking on a chapter. If you try to learn from YouTube videos, it's up to you to put together the bits and pieces you learn, and worse, to try and guess what parts you haven't learned. A course like mine will guide you through EVERYTHING you need to know, and in a logical order. You wouldn't try to learn skydiving by jumping about of a plane and yanking on cords because you saw a Youtuber do that would you? No, you need to start in the classroom, then practice jumping out off a plane while on the ground, etc. My training will walk you through everything you need to learn in a logical order as well.

  8. Learn at your own pace - With this course, you don't have to finish anything at any pace. You can learn as fast, or as slow as you want since you can always come back to where you left off. Try that on YouTube.

  9. Learn while you work - With our eBook driven course, you can download the eBook to your mobile device and take it with you to your work area. Then you can access the eBook Index and skip to the exact section for what you are working on, and watch and learn right there on the spot. You can easily read the eBook, then click on the links to watch the video and go back and forth as needed.

  10. Easy to understand which tools you need- Each time I teach a skill, I'll also list in the eBook the tools you need for this job and any alternatives that will work also. This way if you don't have a certain tool that's necessary, you can click the link in the Ebook and it will take you directly to where you can buy it on the internet, or you can use that information to go buy it locally. I'll also explain what every tool is for, the advantages and disadvantages of that tool, and whether or not you can get by with some other tool instead. That will be something I teach early in the course.

  11. Weekly Livestream Q&A Sessions- For my Pro level courses, I will provide weekly Livestream sessions where you can ask me questions about the recent weeks' courses. I will also offer upgrades for those who want one on one sessions, by phone, zoom, or other options.

Financial Benefits

Hey, admit it, along with providing a high-quality service, doing the job right, and being able to take pride in your workmanship when doing drywall, you also want to make more money right? There's nothing wrong with that and it is actually a very healthy goal because to make more money, in the long run, you have to provide great customer service, have a high satisfaction rating, and you have to get the job done quicker and more efficiently. I'll show you many tips and tricks to accomplish that.

If you are not a drywall contractor but you sometimes need drywall repairs or finishing of smaller drywall jobs, trying to schedule someone to come in a do that can really set back your progress. It's hard to get a drywaller to come do a small job when they are busy on their larger jobs. So if you can learn to do it yourself your jobs will get done quicker, you'll have less hassle with scheduling, and your customers will be happier, IF you do a quality job, and I'll teach you how to ensure you accomplish that.

I'll teach you tips and tricks to get the job done faster, with less cost, and in a higher quality, all of which will make you more money, reduce your frustration and give you the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself.

Other Courses

In the Pro Level course, (yet to be named officially), I'll teach you everything about drywall, what it is, what tools and materials you need, etc, as well as techniques, tips and tricks & more. I'll walk you through many different types of repairs, I'll teach you how to reduce dust, and some basic knowledge of applying and matching textures. I'll also teach you how to tape and finish new drywall in Levels from 1-5, and some basic bidding tips and tricks. There will be much more, which I'll outline soon and add to this page, so it will be extensive.

But I'll also offer separate more in depth courses on subjects like

TEXTURE MATCHING 101- where I'll show you in more detail how to MATCH most any texture by identifying key characteristics of the texture, such as texture Thickness, Coverage amount, Pattern, and tips and tricks on how to practice that texture BEFORE you try to match the actual texture.  I'll show you how to get it to blend in seamlessly, and much more.  I'll explain things like how to predict what a knockdown texture will look like while you are spraying it, since you spray it on, wait awhile, and THEN knock it down.

THE BOOK OF TEXTURES- I've probably figured it out how to apply roughly 20-30 different textures, or variations of textures and in this course, I'll show you how to apply those.

HOW TO BID JOBS- I'll be working with another drywall proffesional who has bid MILLIONS of dollars in jobs, each year, to teach you the tricks to successfully bidding a job to ensure profitability, but also how to secure that job.  My friend has bid jobs for college expansions, motels, large apartment complexes and more.  And I will teach you my tricks to bidding repair jobs.  This is TOTALLY different than bidding new jobs and I'll teach you my tricks and insights on this.  Plus I'll give you sample contracts and teach you the importance of of wording in those contracts.  Leaving the wrong thing out of contracts has cost me days of extra work, for no extra money, or caused me to lose money on jobs, so I'll pass on my knowledge of how to avoid this.

BUSINESS BUILDING- So many people think, I'm really good at what I do, so if I hang out my shingle and do a little advertising on Facebook, it won't be long before I get busy.  Trust me, putting signs on your truck or work vehicle and some basic advertising WON'T get you the work you want.  I've restarted my business many times and each time it takes a LOT of work to re-establish myself.  Your best source of jobs will come from referrals, and repeat business.  And in todays society everyone turns to the internet to research you.  I'll show you how I built a 5 star business with high ratings on Google, Yelp, Angies list Facebook etc.  I'll show you how to properly follow up with customers after the 1st call, until the job has been done, and for years after.  I'll tell you what advertising methods work best and which are mostly a waste of money.

NOTE: If you go through my pro level course, you'll be eligible to take these additional in depth course for a HUGE discount.  I can't commit to anything yet, but it will be at least 30% off the normal price.
